A head teacher at a local school had been referred to Olivia with serious vocal problems by a Speech Therapist and an ENT consultant - their vocal chords were not opening and closing properly causing vocal fatigue, a raspy speaking quality and constant soreness of the throat.
Olivia quickly identified that this student was forcing their speaking voice into an uncomfortably higher pitch when speaking to the younger students at their school and not supporting or projecting their voice when speaking loudly to larger groups of students, teachers or parents.
Within a few weeks, Olivia had introduced basic voice production techniques, trained the student to breathe correctly, improved their posture and taught them how to project their voice in a relaxed, effective and comfortable way.
At a 6 month hospital check-up, the endescopy (a camera looking at vocal chords) revealed that the vocal chords were functioning correctly, opening and closing cleanly and the student was no longer suffering with any vocal problems.
